STEVE'S NEW BOOKS

Steve is writing a book about manatees, an endangered species. In February 2004, Steve researched manatees in Florida. With the help of his friend, Sammie Garnett, Steve arranged for a class of fourth graders from Panama City Beach, Florida, to go snorkeling with manatees at Crystal River, Florida. The book will be photo-illustrated and be geared to 3rd grade and up. The book will cover the habitat needs, history of the Florida manatee and the preservation of this gentle giant. The book will also highlight a 4th-grade research trip to discover the manatee.

Saratoga, N.Y.-based illustrator, Bruce Hiscock, illustrated Steve's book called TURTLE TIDE. The picture book tells the story of a loggerhead sea turtle making a nest on a sandy beach and what becomes of those eggs.  Bruce has done a beautiful job on the watercolor illustrations.

Wings of Light is Steve's brand new book for the spring of 2006, also illustrated by Bruce Hiscock, and it tells the story of the yellow butterfly's journey from the Mexican rainforest of the Yucatan to a garden in New England, a distance of more than two thousand miles.
